I know, some of you are like, “Wait a second, I thought you’d already sold this book?” Well, I had, but some things fell through with it and so we ended up getting the rights to it back this fall.

In true ninja/super hero form, my agent Fran, subbed the book back out to find it a new home. And we have….

Hey my lovelies,
I hope everyone has been having a FAB summer. Mine has been speeding by…the kidlets have been busy with band camp and soccer stuff and college application stuff and my step daughter got engaged (SQUEEEE)! Lots to celebrate!

On the book front I’m in the midst of starting the 3rd and final Winter People book. I have lots of cool stuff planned to give it a proper “sendoff” / ending (LOL). I’ve outlined a good portion of it, but will also be working on Legend of Me edits over the next 1-2 months as well. YEP YOU HEARD RIGHT!! Legend of Me WILL see the light of day hopefully in the next 6-12 months (I know still a wait). My new editor and I talked a little bit about some things with the book and I’m really happy with our ideas. So the fun part is to come (the rewriting/editing).

Oh and before I forget, in less than two weeks The Winter People ebook will be going on a sale (BIG SALE)—LOL…and I’ll be running some contests during that time, so make sure to check back in with me during the next few weeks for announcements. Also, we have about 1 month until the release of The Summer Marked (Winter People bk 2) and I’m SO SO SO excited to have everyone read it. I poured everything into this book and hope you all love it as much as I do. There are more horror elements in this book and new characters that I’m excited for everyone to meet.

And don’t forget that there is still a Goodreads Giveaway going on for The Summer Marked. My publisher has 2 hard cover copies up for grabs…: Enter here: https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/show/151068-the-summer-marked

Phew I am coming out of my writing cave to say hi and Happy Belated New Year (and Christmas). I’m in the process of finishing up a secret project. Only like 8,000 more words to write on this bad boy and we’ll be done (woot-woot). I’m also going to be going through proofs on my YA Contemporary book How to Unbreakup, which will be coming out on 2/10/15!

If you’d like to sign up to be a part of the book cover reveal you can go here: http://www.yaboundbooktours.blogspot.com/2014/12/cover-reveal-sign-up-how-to-unbreakup.html

Let’s just say things have been crazy busy on the writing front. I have 4-5 books coming out in 2015:

How to Unbreakup 2/10/15
Secret Project late spring/early summer 2015
Summer Marked (Winter People bk 2) 8/4/2015
Where there Be Humans is slotted for Fall 2015 (but that might change)
And hopefully Legend of Me will be out in 2015 as well (still working on details of this one).

So yeah, lots going on. On the home front all the kidlets and animals are doing awesome. We’re in indoor soccer season in the Purdy house, so we’ll get to watch some kick butt games.

I’m going to try and post more this upcoming year. Just have to get a couple deadlines under my belt this month then I should be back on track to posting more often. Maybe I’ll throw in some short stories…

Hope everyone is well and surviving winter ((HUGS))…

I’ve been asked by a friend and fellow author Vanessa Barger to join her in a My Writing Process Blog Tour. As a part of it, I’ll feature two authors who will in turn do their own blog about the writing process.

  1. What am I working on? Currently I’m writing the Legend of Me bk 2. It’s a fantasy w/horror and romance elements.
  2. How does my work differ from others of its genre? I try to have my own little twist on my characters’ reality—which I think every writer tries to do. I also love to add humorous situations, no matter what type of book I’m writing.
  3. Why do I write what I do? Because I love it. I love creating worlds and characters. To give readers at least somewhat of an escape from reality.
  4. How does your writing process work? Phew, this is a fun one to answer (LOL). Actually every story I write gets a notebook. In that notebook I do character sketches (like what they look like/personality traits/where they live/who their friends are/enemies etc). I also keep track of setting information, outline info, the back cover blurb, playlists, and any notes having to do with that particular story. I keep these notebooks throughout the whole writing process (from start to publication). That way if I have to look back at something, like let’s say a certain character’s eye color from book 1, I have it right there.

I generally do most of my writing during my lunch hours at work (except for when I’m on deadline—then I’ll use evenings and weekends). But yeah, that’s pretty much my writing process…

Next week, two of my crit partners will be on board to tell you about their writing processes:

Kit Forbeshas been a lover of books, history, and all things paranormal for as long as she can remember. Characters are always the focus of her stories. Being true to them can sometimes mean unpredicatable turns of plot but that’s half the fun of writing (and reading).

Expect the unexpected is the best way she can think to sum things up.

Traci Kenworth has been enthralled with storytelling since she was old enough to string sentences together. She didn’t just play with her toys, she wrote scripts for them. In high school, teachers often thought the assignments she wrote she copied off the book jackets. She tends to write on the dark side as fiction goes. Ghouls, flesh-eaters, ghosts, and soul-stealers among others. All those spooky books she read influenced her. She’s created a world that spans from Ohio to Tennessee in which a culture comes together to fight evil, to make a stand when others look the other way. Everyone is important from young to old and pulls their own weight to keep things safe. She likes the idea of their unity, of the mixture of their heritages, of fighting back evil. They are strong, proud, savage when called for, and determined to win.

And it’s November already!!! Where the heck did October go? LOL.  Been super, crazy busy (which is why we have had a lack of blog posts lately). I’m in the midst of writing Legend of Me book 2 (started it at the end of October). I got a peek at the cover for Legend of Me and you guys are gonna LOVE IT. So pretty and awesome. I’ll likely be able to share it in the next month or so—which also leads me to some unfortunate news that the Legend of Me was pushed back to January 2014 (maybe later). This is one of those things that sometimes happens with publishers and I have n0 control over it. Trust me, I’m bummed, but hey, it’ll give me more time to set up some cool giveaways, plan for fun things!

I’m hoping to get out here more often (as I always seem to be promising)—but I have 4 books that have to be written in the next 12 months, sooooo….if you start hearing crickets, it’s just because I’m trying to get my books written so you can read them (smiles).

Ohh, and I also got to see some mock up covers for The Romeo Club (which are also super adorable). Hopefully, we’ll get the final one soon. So things are moving along.

On the home front, we got a new kitty, who is super cute (and naughty). His name is Sorbert (sure-burt is how you pronounce it).  He spends a lot of time chasing our dogs around the house and instigating fights (hehehe).

We have lots of stuff coming up for the kidlets, band, orchestra, my step-daughter graduates from college in December, 3 of my kids have birthdays, and of course Basketball season will be coming up soon! So yeah, will be doing lots of running around.

Miss everyone and hope your November is going good!! Will check back in soon with any more writing updates!!! ((HUGS))…

Summer is officially here! Woot-woot (LOL). We’ve gotten all our yard work done and the kids are out of school. We got our pool opened and the dogs have gotten their “summer” haircuts. The only thing I don’t like is the really humid, hot weather, so I’m hoping it doesn’t get too ridiculous this weekend.

I’ve been taking the kids up to the soccer fields since school got out to keep them in shape and them out doing stuff. And it gets me outside too (since I spend a majority of my time indoors w/the day job).

This upcoming weekend we’re having a bonfire/pool party for my daughter’s b-day (which was actually yesterday). LOL. We’re on track to have a TON of people over (ahhhh).

And of course, because stuff has been busy at work/home my editorial letter for Legend of Me showed up this week. I have to do some overhaul on a few things (GAH–runs around in cirlces, arms flailing above my head). Some of the changes are kind of big and I’m freaking out a bit. Like, “Can I actually pull this off?” And, “OMG, how the hell will I manage to get this scene just right.”

Editorial letters always put me into freakout mode. I love doing edits, but worry about getting things right. I really need to get everything figured out/rewritten/fixed w/in the next 2 or so weeks (gulps).

Hopefully these edits will nudge me back into writing mode again as I haven’t written anything in like over two months! Trust me, I have LOTS of things I need to be working on (LOL). But summer seems to have this slow-down net over me. Every year, it’s like my mind decides to slow down (sometimes shut down–LOL) and not cooperate. It’s like I’m only programmed to write like 8-9 months of the year.

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far. I’m looking forward to August when we head out for our annual camping trip to the UP (oh yeah). And of course, August seems FOREVER away.
