How I Live Now Cover

Okay, so I have to say that I LOVED the book How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff. Seriously one of my favorites. It’s one of those stories that sticks with you well after you read it. So if you haven’t read it, you definitely should!!!

Goodreads Blurb for How I Live Now:

Fifteen-year-old Daisy is sent from Manhattan to England to visit her aunt and cousins she’s never met: three boys near her age, and their little sister. Her aunt goes away on business soon after Daisy arrives. The next day bombs go off as London is attacked and occupied by an unnamed enemy.

As power fails, and systems fail, the farm becomes more isolated. Despite the war, it’s a kind of Eden, with no adults in charge and no rules, a place where Daisy’s uncanny bond with her cousins grows into something rare and extraordinary. But the war is everywhere, and Daisy and her cousins must lead each other into a world that is unknown in the scariest, most elemental way.

Well, yesterday, I finally came across the movie trailer for it (yes, it’s been made into movie—SQUEEEEE). Which, I hope comes to Michigan so I can see it. But because it’s one of my favorite books, I wanted to share the movie trailer with you…

So my hubby and daughter left this week for Rome. They’ll be gone for a couple weeks. There were lots of tears (mine and the kidlets). It’s been WAY quiet in the house. But my boys are keeping me busy. We still have soccer stuff going on as well as band/orchestra stuff. Needless to say we’ve been doing lots of running.

And I admit, last night we had Lunchables, string cheese, and Cheez-Its for dinner (LOL). Yeah, we had to go with quick dinner over standing over the stove for hours dinner.  Tonight or tomorrow I promised my sons we’d go see Iron Man 3. They’re totally eager. My high school son’s been bugging me for the last two weeks that we go see that movie while my hubby/daughter are gone.

On a sad note, hospice came in for my grandma a week ago. And we also lost my uncle to leukemia. So the last two weeks have been super sad.

As for the writing front, well, I’m doing LOTS OF WAITING. Still in contract negotiations on a series. It’s totally killing me too. I never realized things could move this slow. And it’s complete torture. I’m also waiting to hear back from FAB agent about a YA contemp I sent over. Right now I’m in the midst of researching for an NA contemporary.  I’ve jotted down some notes/funny lines, and have a pile of research to sort through.

With all the waiting I’m doing on the writing front, it has freed up some time for me to get some reading in. In the last two weeks I’ve read:

Poison by Bridgit Zinn ( a totally cute/fun YA fantasy)

The Summer I Became a Nerd by Leah R. Miller (a LOL fun summer read)

Going Vintage by Lindsey Leavitt (another YA contemporary which was cute/fun)

The Summer My Life Began by Shannon Greenland (another YA summer read/which was a quick read)

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green (YA Contemporary—OMG this book is SO good—I warn you it’s sad, but has a lot of LOL funny moments. It’s one of those books that’ll stay with you long after you read it).

I’m currently reading Sixteenth Summer by Michelle Dalton. It’s cute so far and of course it’s another summer read (LOL). As you can tell from the list above I’ve been on a contemporary kick as of late.

I hope everyone has a FAB weekend! Hopefully I’ll have some news to share in the near future (I know, I know, I say that every time I post. But one of these times it’s actually gonna happen—hehehe).

First of all I want to thank everyone for the positive feedback/words regarding The Fairy Godmother Files: Cinderella Complex. Seriously, it makes writing even that much more wonderful knowing that people are enjoying my stories.

And speaking of the Fairy Godmother Files, my lovely friend/crit partner Jennifer Fischetto is talking about my book on her blog today! Woohoo! So make sure to pop over.

In other news THE HUNGER GAMES—OMG SO AWESOME!!! I went to see the movie this weekend with my family. It was SO good. I don’t want to get all spoilery, but I can say there were a couple spots where I teared up (when Kat was with Rue and at the beginning).

The scenes with Katniss and Peeta were FAB. And holy crap the viciousness of the some of the tributes was captured perfectly. They didn’t show tons of gore or anything, but I mean you got a good idea/picture of what these kids were going through.

Kudos to the director/producers/writers for this film. My son and daughter both agreed that this was the best movie they’d seen.

Hope everyone gets a chance to go see it, totally worth it!

Oh and tomorrow I’ll be announcing the winners from my little blog tour I did. And stay tuned I’ll be giving away more stuff in the next couple of weeks.

First of all, I want to wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS! I’m not sure if I’ll get out here again before the holidays are in full force. Hope you all have fun ((HUGS)).

Phew! Here it is, my last day of work (at the day job) until after the New Year (oh yeah). I’m really excited to have some time off. My plan? Well, to hang out with my family, play some video games, watch movies, read books, and maybe do a few “small” edits on TLOM (we’ll see though).

And for once, I have ALL my Christmas shopping done and the gifts are ALL wrapped (LOL). So, I actually get to chill. I’m SO looking forward to spending time with my kids/hubby. I’m already making a list of video games we can play (Skyrim is at the top, I’ve been waiting all week to play it—ahhh), as well as board games, and I have a ½ finished puzzle I REALLY want to get done.

It’ll be nice not to have to make the long commute and just stay home. Some years we take trips in December (like to Florida/Disney etc), but this year we’re all going to be home.

December 24th I’ll watch A Christmas Story (like I do every year). The 25th will be a blast as all my kids are home. Devin and Kris are home from GVSU, and Alyssa got in last Friday from Roosevelt University. The younger kids haven’t left (LOL), and my sister, 2 nephews, and niece, will be there with us. And hopefully, my dad will be back in off the road by then.

The following weekend (New Year’s Eve) will be my side of the family’s Christmas/New Year get together and my brother and his wife will be coming up with their 3 kids, and my sister will be there with her kids etc. We normally play board games, eat LOTS of food, and goof off (um—yeah can you say Nerf Gun Wars?).  Then we watch the ball drop. Usually, there is a prank call or two (MOM). LOL. But yeah, lots of fun.

As you can see, most of the stuff planned revolves around my LOVELY family. I can’t say enough about how awesome my family is.

So, until the New Year (unless of course I get some awesome news to share before then). Merry Christmas and Happy New Year (or whatever holidays you may celebrate, I hope they’re perfect).
