OMG, I can’t believe it’s finally here. The Summer Marked is officially out today!!!! This is the 2nd book in The Winter People Series…
Fresh off a break-up with her boyfriend, Kadie’s glad to be home from college for Thanksgiving. All she needs is a rebound guy, a box of chocolates, and some girl time with her best friend, Salome. Problem is, Salome isn’t returning her calls, and her family won’t say where she is. Feeling sorry for herself, Kadie ends up at Club Blade, a place filled with pumping music, dangerous guys, and promises of a good time. However, when midnight strikes, Kadie’s fun turns into a nightmare as she’s ripped from the human world into Faerie by a vengeful Winter Prince named Etienne. For the first time in her life, she realizes the monsters Salome always spoke of are real, and they’ll stop at nothing to destroy her friend.
Salome thought the winter curse was behind her. But winter has left its mark. Not just on her, but on the whole summer court. The Kingdom of Summer is falling apart, and Nevin is hanging onto his throne by a thread. With war on his doorstep, he has no choice but to send Gareth into enemy territory, which means Salome will be left alone—vulnerable in a world she doesn’t understand. A place where beauty is deadly and humans are pawns in the macabre games the Fae play. Both Kadie and Salome will have to call on all their strength to survive in a world where humans aren’t meant to be. With death and enemies all around them, it’ll be a miracle if they can survive.

Hey my lovelies,
I hope everyone has been having a FAB summer. Mine has been speeding by…the kidlets have been busy with band camp and soccer stuff and college application stuff and my step daughter got engaged (SQUEEEE)! Lots to celebrate!
On the book front I’m in the midst of starting the 3rd and final Winter People book. I have lots of cool stuff planned to give it a proper “sendoff” / ending (LOL). I’ve outlined a good portion of it, but will also be working on Legend of Me edits over the next 1-2 months as well. YEP YOU HEARD RIGHT!! Legend of Me WILL see the light of day hopefully in the next 6-12 months (I know still a wait). My new editor and I talked a little bit about some things with the book and I’m really happy with our ideas. So the fun part is to come (the rewriting/editing).
Oh and before I forget, in less than two weeks The Winter People ebook will be going on a sale (BIG SALE)—LOL…and I’ll be running some contests during that time, so make sure to check back in with me during the next few weeks for announcements. Also, we have about 1 month until the release of The Summer Marked (Winter People bk 2) and I’m SO SO SO excited to have everyone read it. I poured everything into this book and hope you all love it as much as I do. There are more horror elements in this book and new characters that I’m excited for everyone to meet.
And don’t forget that there is still a Goodreads Giveaway going on for The Summer Marked. My publisher has 2 hard cover copies up for grabs…: Enter here: https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/show/151068-the-summer-marked

So, I’ve been on vacation for the last couple of weeks. It’s been awesome having a break from the real world for a while. But unfortunately, all good things must come to end–tomorrow it’s back to work (ahhhh). It’s always so hard come back home. I love being in the wilderness and the slower pace of life. I love being able to fall asleep at night to the sound of waves crashing against the shore and waking up to that same sound. I love being able to just get up and walk like 50-60 feet to the beach. Eventually, we plan on moving up near where we vacation, but it’ll still be a little while before we do that.

June has kind of come out of nowhere! Seriously. We’re nearing the end of soccer season here in the Purdy house. We have two games this weekend, then we have tournament Friday-Sunday next weekend (well depending on how well the kids’ teams do—LOL). But at least 3 games each (so that’s 6 games we’ll have to be at for sure). GAH. But it’s super fun to watch them play!
I’m still working on writing the sequel to Legend of Me. Just finished a REALLY tough scene. Hoping to get this on cranked out by July, at which point I’ll need to start writing The Winter People bk 3. Also have like 3 side projects I want to work on, but I have to get all my contracted stuff written first…
Oh and for those of you going to ALA, I’ve sent out some signed Winter People bookmarks (they’re really sweet looking) that’ll be at the Entangled table. They’ll also have some ARCS on hand for those of you who want to get your hands on TWP before it releases in September.
I’m getting super pumped about vacation, which is coming up in August. Can’t wait to hike and camp. And have a break from the day job (LOL). So yeah, I’ll be counting down to that.
REALLY hoping to get out this weekend to see The Fault in Our Stars—but not sure if my schedule will allow for it or not. If you guys haven’t read the book this movie is based off of, GO NOW AND GET IT. Super awesome. You will laugh. You will cry. You will go through lots of tissue.
Hope you all have a FABULOUS weekend!!

Hey, I hope everyone is enjoying their summers!!! We had a really quiet Fourth of July (mainly because my hubby was working and I had to work today–the 5th). And we only had 2 of our 6 kids at home (LOL).
I finished up my first round edits/revisions this week for The Legend of Me (yay). And they about killed me (GAH), still trying to mentally recover from overload.
So far this summer, I’ve gotten the chance to have a couple bonfires w/family and friends, swim in our pool, play badminton, and volleyball. I’ve also been taking a couple trips a week up to the soccer fields with Chase and Erin to keep them in shape over the summer.
Have some stuff out on submission again (fingers crossed).
Well, since we’re on the subject of summer, I decided to share a few songs that I’ve been listening to around the pool/outside while enjoying the sunshine. Hope you all have a FAB Holiday weekend.

Summer is officially here! Woot-woot (LOL). We’ve gotten all our yard work done and the kids are out of school. We got our pool opened and the dogs have gotten their “summer” haircuts. The only thing I don’t like is the really humid, hot weather, so I’m hoping it doesn’t get too ridiculous this weekend.
I’ve been taking the kids up to the soccer fields since school got out to keep them in shape and them out doing stuff. And it gets me outside too (since I spend a majority of my time indoors w/the day job).
This upcoming weekend we’re having a bonfire/pool party for my daughter’s b-day (which was actually yesterday). LOL. We’re on track to have a TON of people over (ahhhh).
And of course, because stuff has been busy at work/home my editorial letter for Legend of Me showed up this week. I have to do some overhaul on a few things (GAH–runs around in cirlces, arms flailing above my head). Some of the changes are kind of big and I’m freaking out a bit. Like, “Can I actually pull this off?” And, “OMG, how the hell will I manage to get this scene just right.”
Editorial letters always put me into freakout mode. I love doing edits, but worry about getting things right. I really need to get everything figured out/rewritten/fixed w/in the next 2 or so weeks (gulps).
Hopefully these edits will nudge me back into writing mode again as I haven’t written anything in like over two months! Trust me, I have LOTS of things I need to be working on (LOL). But summer seems to have this slow-down net over me. Every year, it’s like my mind decides to slow down (sometimes shut down–LOL) and not cooperate. It’s like I’m only programmed to write like 8-9 months of the year.
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far. I’m looking forward to August when we head out for our annual camping trip to the UP (oh yeah). And of course, August seems FOREVER away.

LOL-okay, yeah, as you can see from the header, holy crap was it hard to come back from vacation this week. I kept thinking: ‘Just one more day.’
We had an absolute blast on our annual camping trip to the UP (Upper Peninsula) of Michigan. We did a lot of hiking, walking, swimming, campfires, driving…And yes, we did bathe in the lake (hehehe). We had awesome weather too. I still haven’t downloaded any pics from my camera yet.
It was nice to be able to step away from the real world for a while and actually hang out with my kids and hubby. We all get so busy with work, school, sports, and music events that it seems like we don’t really get to see each other that much during a regular week/day.
I didn’t do any writing while I was gone–but figure next week I’ll be diving back in full swing. Have to start cranking out book 2 in my Winter People series. Also VERY excited about a YA contemporary story I want to write.
Waiting to hear back on a couple projects right now (so hard to wait–chews off nails).
This weekend we’ll be hanging out at the Danish Festival Parade here in Greenville. My daughter will be marching in the parade for band (woot-woot). Will definitely take some pics and do some cat calls (have to let her know we’re there–LOL).
Oh and while we were gone we also looked at some vacation homes in the UP. I think we have our list narrowed down to like 5-6 now (LOL). Not sure how we’ll decide. But I’m super excited that we might be getting a place up there. We absolutely LOVE it up there.
I hope everyone is enjoying what’s left of their summers. Boy has it flown by (especially my vacation). Hopefully I’ll be able to start posting more frequently now, well, at least until edits for Winter People come my way.
Until then HAPPYFRIDAY and take care.
