I want to welcome Jennifer Fischetto to my blog today. She was nice enough to let me interview her! You guys HAVE to check out her YA book I Spy Dead People, which just came out this month (December 2013)! It’s SO adorable!!! Here’s my interview with Jenn and the cover of her awesomely FAB book:

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000031_00001]

Tell us a little something about your book and what genre it is?
I SPY DEAD PEOPLE is a young adult, paranormal mystery, about fifteen-year-old Piper Grimaldi. Her dad is a true crime novelist, and in order to research his novels, they must travel to the different locations where the crimes occurred. So Piper spends every school year in a different town and state. In the beginning of the book, they’ve moved to Hollow Ridge, MA, where Piper finds the dead body of teen soap star, Linzy Quinn. Suddenly Linzy’s ghost is in Piper’s face 24/7, and Piper makes it her mission to figure out who killed Linzy.
What character(s) do you like the most and why?
I adore Piper. She’s smart, cute, determined to get what she wants, and while she can get tunnel vision with her issues, she loves her Dad and friends. Plus, the only thing she’s scared of are axe wielding murderers wearing hockey masks. She’d be awesome to go on an adventure or in a haunted house with.
What are your favorite books? And is there any book in particular that made you want to become a writer?
When I was little, I loved the fairytales, Snow White and Cinderella, and they made me wish to create my own stories, but I was so young that I’m not sure if I really understood what being an author meant. I’m a huge fan of YA books. It’s what I mostly read nowadays. I love contemporaries, horror, mysteries, and anything that can make me laugh.
What’s the one thing you can’t live without while writing?
I can’t say there’s one thing, but I usually have a routine–not always. I like to start writing as soon as I get up, usually with a cup of coffee, and then I work for several hours. I like it quiet. Then around 11 am, I need noise, and I turn on music. It’s as if it’s suddenly too quiet, and I can’t stand it any longer.
Reality or Fantasy?
Reality. I’d love to write a serious, gritty YA–one that deals with deep, emotional issues, but that’s not my voice. So I try to be as realistic as possible. You know, with ghosts and other supernatural tidbits. 😉
Your favorite snack?
Ice cream. Most flavors. Love it! I like mine with stuff in it, like cookies, brownies, nuts, ripples. The only things I don’t like in it are chocolate chips, because they get too hard, and cookie dough. Not a fan of the raw stuff.
Lastly, what’s your favorite season?
Definitely fall. I live in MA, so the leaves fall and change colors. It’s beautiful. Plus I’m a cooler weather girl. I can’t stand summer, so fall is a treat for me. Back to school (which means it’s quieter), headed toward the holidays (which is my favorite time of year), and comforter nights. I love snuggling. 🙂

Okay, so I have some release date changes (I know, I know–this has happened a couple of times now–LOL). The Winter People will now be releasing in September of 2014 (September 2, 2014 to be exact). There are a couple of reasons for this change. The big one: THE WINTER PEOPLE IS GOING TO BE COMING OUT IN HARD COVER!!!!! Yes, you read that correctly! HARD COVER!! OMG!!!! The cover for it is going to get a really cool treatment and Arcs will likely be available at ALA (which I’m being encouraged to attend to sign some books for everyone–woot-woot…still working out the details on that though).

The release date wasn’t changed just because of the hard cover thing, but also due to the fact that this book is set in winter so it made more sense for it to come out in Fall time frame (LOL). This book should be available in most bookstores (which is totally awesome).

Also because I’m working with various publishers, they have to make sure that my titles, which are all releasing in the same year aren’t competing with one another, which is why The Romeo Club will now be released at the end of March 2014 instead of May. And I don’t have my new date for The Legend of Me yet, but yeah, trust me, all these switches are just as hard for me as they are for you. But they all make sense and I hope the wait will be well worth it for everyone!

I have to thank everyone who has added my books on goodreads, messaged me about their excitement for the stories/covers, and helped take part in my cover reveals these past couple of weeks. You guys are TOTALLY AWESOME and FAB!!! ((HUGS))…

But yeah, that’s my good news! TWP in hard cover 9/2014!!!

And it’s November already!!! Where the heck did October go? LOL.  Been super, crazy busy (which is why we have had a lack of blog posts lately). I’m in the midst of writing Legend of Me book 2 (started it at the end of October). I got a peek at the cover for Legend of Me and you guys are gonna LOVE IT. So pretty and awesome. I’ll likely be able to share it in the next month or so—which also leads me to some unfortunate news that the Legend of Me was pushed back to January 2014 (maybe later). This is one of those things that sometimes happens with publishers and I have n0 control over it. Trust me, I’m bummed, but hey, it’ll give me more time to set up some cool giveaways, plan for fun things!

I’m hoping to get out here more often (as I always seem to be promising)—but I have 4 books that have to be written in the next 12 months, sooooo….if you start hearing crickets, it’s just because I’m trying to get my books written so you can read them (smiles).

Ohh, and I also got to see some mock up covers for The Romeo Club (which are also super adorable). Hopefully, we’ll get the final one soon. So things are moving along.

On the home front, we got a new kitty, who is super cute (and naughty). His name is Sorbert (sure-burt is how you pronounce it).  He spends a lot of time chasing our dogs around the house and instigating fights (hehehe).

We have lots of stuff coming up for the kidlets, band, orchestra, my step-daughter graduates from college in December, 3 of my kids have birthdays, and of course Basketball season will be coming up soon! So yeah, will be doing lots of running around.

Miss everyone and hope your November is going good!! Will check back in soon with any more writing updates!!! ((HUGS))…

Summer is officially here! Woot-woot (LOL). We’ve gotten all our yard work done and the kids are out of school. We got our pool opened and the dogs have gotten their “summer” haircuts. The only thing I don’t like is the really humid, hot weather, so I’m hoping it doesn’t get too ridiculous this weekend.

I’ve been taking the kids up to the soccer fields since school got out to keep them in shape and them out doing stuff. And it gets me outside too (since I spend a majority of my time indoors w/the day job).

This upcoming weekend we’re having a bonfire/pool party for my daughter’s b-day (which was actually yesterday). LOL. We’re on track to have a TON of people over (ahhhh).

And of course, because stuff has been busy at work/home my editorial letter for Legend of Me showed up this week. I have to do some overhaul on a few things (GAH–runs around in cirlces, arms flailing above my head). Some of the changes are kind of big and I’m freaking out a bit. Like, “Can I actually pull this off?” And, “OMG, how the hell will I manage to get this scene just right.”

Editorial letters always put me into freakout mode. I love doing edits, but worry about getting things right. I really need to get everything figured out/rewritten/fixed w/in the next 2 or so weeks (gulps).

Hopefully these edits will nudge me back into writing mode again as I haven’t written anything in like over two months! Trust me, I have LOTS of things I need to be working on (LOL). But summer seems to have this slow-down net over me. Every year, it’s like my mind decides to slow down (sometimes shut down–LOL) and not cooperate. It’s like I’m only programmed to write like 8-9 months of the year.

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far. I’m looking forward to August when we head out for our annual camping trip to the UP (oh yeah). And of course, August seems FOREVER away.
