Okay, so obviously it’s been awhile since my last post. Life sometimes gets SUPER busy and I have to stay off social media (LOL). First of all, I have some news to share (woot-w00t) 🙂

I’ve sold another book  (AHHH-so freaking excited). It’s entitled: Incriminating Dating (YA Contemporary). It’s described as Election meets Can’t Hardly wait. It’s set for Winter 2017 publication date.

Official sales info here :

R. Purdy's announcement

We’re only a few months away from the release of The Winter’s Spite (the 3rd and final book in the Winter People series). And I’ll have a YA Contemporary entitled French Fries, Football, and My Freshman Year coming out tentatively October 2016. And next year I’ll have more books coming out (YAY). So lots of busy things.

So if I’m kind of quiet on here, it’s not because I don’t love you guys, it just means that I’m trying to plow my way through 3 book deadlines (1 that needs edits-lots of them (hahaha), another 1 that is only like 1/10th of the way written and it’s due to my editor in June, and I have another 50 page proposal I owe another editor for a book by May. So yeah, plate is kind of full). Not to mention I have a day job that keeps me away from home for about 12 hours a day (between long commute/and working). Plus we have soccer season in full swing, we’re planning a graduation party for my son, and we have another son who is getting married in a few months.

I promise though to try to keep you updated with any news or awesome things that’ll be going on 🙂

Hope you’re all doing well.

I know, some of you are like, “Wait a second, I thought you’d already sold this book?” Well, I had, but some things fell through with it and so we ended up getting the rights to it back this fall.

In true ninja/super hero form, my agent Fran, subbed the book back out to find it a new home. And we have….

*Official Announcement*

Hey my lovelies! Well, 2015 has almost slipped away from us. It’s definitely been a year, that’s for sure. A year, I DON’T want to repeat. I should have some more news for you in the coming days/weeks. Some of it good news, some of it kind of a mixture of ‘good/bad’ news, depending on how you look at it (LOL). Yeah, I know, that was kind of not helpful at all.

I’m still working on The Winter People Book 3. I’m getting closer to finishing it up. Nearly 3/4 of the way through with it.

I’ll soon be working on a couple other projects which I’m totally excited about. One is a contemporary book and the other two are Fantasy books (YA of course).

I’m super looking forward to my vacation, which is coming up in 3 days (not that I’m counting–hahahaha). Gonna hang out with my kidlets, hubby and animals. I’ve got two of my kids who got engaged this year. And another one who got into Central Michigan University (starting next fall as he’s a senior this year).

So next year we’ll have 2 weddings and a graduation (OMG, how is this possible?). So lots of busy stuff to come.

As the year comes to an end I just want to tell all my readers how much they mean to me. Thank you EVER SO MUCH for the emails and messages you send. Thank you for reading my books…it means SO SO much!

Hoping to have a couple more out there next year for you 🙂

I hope everyone has a blessed holiday season, no matter what you’re celebrating…

Phew I am coming out of my writing cave to say hi and Happy Belated New Year (and Christmas). I’m in the process of finishing up a secret project. Only like 8,000 more words to write on this bad boy and we’ll be done (woot-woot). I’m also going to be going through proofs on my YA Contemporary book How to Unbreakup, which will be coming out on 2/10/15!

If you’d like to sign up to be a part of the book cover reveal you can go here: http://www.yaboundbooktours.blogspot.com/2014/12/cover-reveal-sign-up-how-to-unbreakup.html

Let’s just say things have been crazy busy on the writing front. I have 4-5 books coming out in 2015:

How to Unbreakup 2/10/15
Secret Project late spring/early summer 2015
Summer Marked (Winter People bk 2) 8/4/2015
Where there Be Humans is slotted for Fall 2015 (but that might change)
And hopefully Legend of Me will be out in 2015 as well (still working on details of this one).

So yeah, lots going on. On the home front all the kidlets and animals are doing awesome. We’re in indoor soccer season in the Purdy house, so we’ll get to watch some kick butt games.

I’m going to try and post more this upcoming year. Just have to get a couple deadlines under my belt this month then I should be back on track to posting more often. Maybe I’ll throw in some short stories…

Hope everyone is well and surviving winter ((HUGS))…

And here we are into November! So sorry I haven’t posted in a while, but September and October were CRAZY insane! I had book signings (sometimes a couple in one week). So I was on the road a lot and got to meet lots of awesome readers, writers, and other authors.

The small book tour I did this fall was my first ever and let me tell you that I was HOLY nervous for my first signing—and then for my first speaking event (ah). But I made it through. Seriously can’t tell you how awesome it was getting to talk to readers. It was so cool that people wanted to come meet me. Sometimes they were nervous to talk to me (which totally seemed alien to me because I’m the most normal person in the world). To my own kids, I’m just there mom, who also happens to write.

I wanted to also thank everyone for the fan emails, direct messages, messages, and tweets over the last couple of months, seriously, they mean so much to me. To hear how much people are loving this world I wrote about and the characters…

So I thought I’d share a tiny little bit of news (for those of you who didn’t already know). The Winter People will have 2 more books in the series. The 2nd book, as of right now, is titled: Summer Marked. I know TWP had a pretty satisfying ending, so it’s not like there was a cliffhanger or anything like that. But the 2nd book kind of lets us explore more of the characters from the 1st book. Some characters who had more stories to tell. There will also be the introduction to some new characters who I’m SO excited for people to meet. This 2nd book is darker than the first. We do have a tentative release date on that one of August 4, 2015 (so less than a year).

Anyway, just wanted to share that bit of information with everyone (will share more when I’m allowed to). I will hopefully have some other good news to share soon.

But for now, I’m going to share some pictures from my book signings below (I had more pics, but my daughter’s phone had a malfunction and she lost a lot of photos she had saved on it—sniffles).

Okay, so there are days where I think we all get to that point of “AH, how the heck am I supposed to get through this, or I won’t ever get this or this done.” It can be overwhelming. Between the day job, the writing, lots of running with the kidlets, long commute to/from work—court, deadlines…ah, you name it. It’s called life, right? Busy. Creativity sucking. Mind boggling. Life.

Since I do most of my writing during my lunch hours at my day job, I have a couple of things that are hanging on my desk that kind of keep me going or give me that extra push when I need it. Those moments where I can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel (or I feel like I’ll never get this chapter I’m writing just right—or the day job work off my desk etc).

The first is a poem by Robert Frost. It was something I had to memorize for my English Lit class in high school. A poem that has stuck with me forever. I’ve had it hanging at my desk since I started the day job almost 15 years ago, as well as had it in a notebook when I joined the army right out of high school.

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost:

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

This is one of my ALL time favorite poems…so inspiring for those days when you’re like “Why am I doing this again?” LOL. Or when you just need a pick me up.

The other poem is by an Unknown Poet:

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,

When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high,

And you want to small, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,

As every one of us sometimes learns,

And many a failure turns about

When he might have won had he stuck it out.

Don’t give up though the pace seems slow—

You may succeed with another blow!

Success is failure turned inside out—

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,

And never you can tell just how close you are,

It may be near when it seems so far.

So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit—

It’s when things seem the worst that you must not quit.

See what I mean? LOVE these words…they’ve been the driving force behind me for years. Do you have any poems or sayings or quotes that kind of keep you on track when things get crazy? If so, feel free to share them below.

Hope you’re having a FAB summer. Mine so far has been crazy busy! And it’ll be getting more busy (LOL). In the midst of plotting a “secret project” with some other lovely authors. SO excited about guys. Will hopefully have more details on that beauty come September. I’ll also be getting edits for How to Unbreakup come August (can’t wait for you guys to read this nerdy, summer romance—which will come out I believe in January 2015). And of course, I’m nearing closer to the release of The Winter People (September 2, 2014). OMG, I’m flipping freaking out here…hahahaha. So excited. I’ll be speaking at the Fremont Public Library (in Fremont, MI) in October, I’ll post more details as I get them.

((HUGS))…and let my vacation countdown begin (less than 3 weeks—squeeee)…then it’ll be me, in the wilderness enjoying some camping, hiking, and rafting!

Phew, so the end of April and these first couple of weeks of May have been pretty crazy. Not gonna lie, May has been a giant bear. First of all we’re enjoying soccer season with the kidlets, they’re doing awesome (and kicking butt on the fields-LOL), but there’s been LOTS of running. I’m kind of forgetting what my house looks like (LOL).

Had some more insane writing deadlines (which I made—woot-woot). As I told my crit group, I swear The Winter People is cursed (hahahaha). It’s like everything that could go wrong or come up with that book has happened. So I’m hoping that this means only good things to come when it releases in September. Oh, and I can’t wait for you guys to see the fabulous bookmarks I had made for it.

I’m still working on writing book 2 for Legend of Me (which I don’t have a firm release date for yet, but I’m praying it’ll still come out this year as previously planned). Also, I’ll have another YA contemp coming out early 2015 entitled How to Unbreakup! It’s super cute and fun and I can’t wait for you all to read it.

I also have a *secret* project in the works with a few other authors. Hoping that everything comes together on it. But I’m really excited about it. *crosses fingers* we’re still in the “planning/plotting/figuring out” process on it.

And, I FINALLY joined pinterest, so if you’d like to follow me there you can. Pinterest link: http://www.pinterest.com/rebekahg22/

Hope everyone has a brilliant week and is enjoying Spring so far! Will try to get out here more often (in between deadline stuff).

Orange Flames

Phew, well, I’m back from “deadline hell”. LOL. Had to get a book cranked out, which is due in April. And yes, I wrote that thing in like a month. Yes, I know, that’s TOTALLY crazy. HA! It’ll be my 2nd ya contemporary I’ve written, and it is a follow-up to (not a sequel) The Romeo Club, which will now release on April 8th, 2014. Why yes, I have been on a contemporary kick lately. But seriously, the book was a TON of fun to write. Hope my editor loves it as much as I do.

Also wanted to catch up with everyone because I’ve gotten a few emails in regards to The Legend of Me, which was originally supposed to have been released by now. I know the last time I did an update on it, we’d been looking at possibly January 2014 (which has obviously come and gone). Well, right now, the release date is kind of a “floater” meaning, I don’t have one yet. The thing is, I write for various publishers, and with my contracts, I can’t have books release too close together from different publishers. In other words, I can’t have a book release from publisher A today, then in a week, have a book release from Publisher B because then those titles would be “competing”.  And because the Legend of Me release date got moved, it was too close to a book I had coming out with another publisher. So, it is now floating (in space—LOL—just kidding), and my publisher will let me know probably about 1-2 months in advance of when it’s going to release. But I promise you, Legend will eventually release.

I will hopefully, soon, have more AWESOME news to share. News I’ve been sitting on for a few weeks now. Just waiting for an email to come through giving me the go ahead to share. Oh, and pretty soon (May, I think), I’ll start seeing Arcs (advance reader copies) for The Winter People! SQUEEE….how exciting is that? I have one book signing scheduled so far in September  (you can see my news page for that info).

Otherwise, I’ve been staying mondo busy. I’ll be getting back to writing The Legend of Me bk 2, and also getting ready to jump into The Winter People bk 3 soon. So the crazy writing schedule will continue.

Oh, and before I forget (because I’m good at that—hehehe), I will be posting my book blog tour info next week for The Romeo Club (squee). During the blog tour and also the week of my release, I’ll have some contests running for people to enter to win “Nerd Packs” for The Romeo Club! I’ll also be giving away signed bookmarks etc. So stay tuned for that.

Hope you’re surviving the winter. It’s been rough. Hoping Spring will “arrive” soon (LOL). ((HUGS))…talk to you all again soon!!

Hi my lovelies! Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve dropped in. Been hanging out with my family, working on writing stuff (handed in The Winter People bk 2 to editor over Christmas vacation), and just got back from an out of town conference at work.

So this year, I’ll have 3-4 books releasing (OMG—seriously). LOL. It’ll be a busy year that’s for sure. But I’m excited and have been waiting for 2014 for a while now. Definitely can’t wait for everyone to read my stories.

This year, I also have a couple crit partners and agent mates with books coming out too. And I’m WAY excited for them as well. I’ll definitely be having them all stop in to share their releases with us.

This upcoming week my daughter has basketball tryouts. I know she’s way nervous (fingers crossed that she makes the team). She made it last year, but you never want to get over confident that it’ll happen again.

In other news, I might attend ALA in Las Vegas this year to sign The Winter People, still trying to get some last minute details worked out though. We normally take a 2 week family vacation in the summer and we’d talked about maybe switching the time frame of our vacation to correlate with ALA. But again, still have to figure out a few more details before I’ll say it’s set in stone.

Winter has been crazy up here. The kidlets missed a few days of school due to snow/temps/roads etc. So they got an extended vacation from school.

I hope everyone is doing great and that we’re ready for a FABULOUS year! ((HUGS))…
